This one-woman show, “Rita Hayworth The Heat Is On! A Life in Concert” stars Quinn Lemley, the critically acclaimed New York singer/performer who has sold- out shows in various performing arts centers and casinos across North America. Lemley now comes to the Jersey Shore and, more specifically, the popular “Cape May Stage” in Cape May, NJ.
Hayworth, known as “The Love Goddess” in the noir classic, Gilda, performed the iconic tease, "Put The Blame On Mame.” She was the hottest sex symbol of the ’40s, courted by powerful men (Orson Welles, Prince Aly Khan, Howard Hughes, and such co-stars as Frank Sinatra, Fred Astaire, and Gene Kelly). 20 hit songs from the Golden Age of Hollywood.
Performed by Lemley, who has an uncanny resemblance to Hayworth, she also has five CDs available with her recordings on Spotify and Apple Music. She also hosts the NYC-produced TV show, “Secrets of the Stage” and is Assistant Dean of Speaker University NSA NY.
Writer/director Carter Inskeep has updated the script emphasizing Hayworth’s rise to fame, women’s empowerment, the “Me Too Movement” and her ultimate battle with Alzheimer’s. With arrangements by Tedd Firth, backed by a quartet under the music direction of Andrew Wheeler. Costumes are by Wendall Goings with handcrafted shoes by Michael Troy Brown.
